VISUAL IDENTITY: CONFERENCE RE-DESIGN

  • The project required the  re-branding of an existing convention.

  • The logo of an existing conference was redesigned using modern type. A pattern was illustrated and made.  A hypothetical theme and key visual was developed.

  • The re-designed logo, custom pattern motif and key visual formed the basis for an integrated campaign: homepage comp for the event’s website, pole banners, attendee and speaker badges, and multiple items of swag.

  • The overall identity was formalized in a style guide that held all the working directives involved in the project.  It holds everything that is needed for another designer or printer to use for future reference. View the Style Guide by clicking here.

DESIGN FOR PRINT: MARKETING TRAVEL BROCHURE

  • The project was a travel brochure for a niche audience featuring three picturesque attractions that would appeal to them.

  • Intensive research of Greece for visual elements that would create a theme for the brochure was completed. Photographs that would highlight the destination were curated and edited. The Acropolis perspective created a motif that ran through the brochure.

  • The copy was written by myself so that it could be tailored to a unique audience. The typographic stylized first letter of Greece and the two EE’s  in my own type-forward ligature were created. Saturated colors and intense black swatches help unify the brochure into a cohesive unit.

  • The project was chosen as one of the best amongst my peers.

DESIGN FOR PRINT: FIELD GUIDE PUBLICATION

  • The project was the creation of color typographic illustrations of natural specimens conforming to a theme of my choice bound in a Field Guide Book format.

  • The design was orchestrated through weekly typographic exercises of creating a new specimen that was realized through caterpillars of a fun, warm and naive nature.

  • The caterpillars were illustrated using nature-inspired colors; simple copy, composition using the 6 column-grid system, clear background images, and bold typographic lettering for the designs to stand out.

  • The caterpillar specimens were assimilated studying every letter of a chosen font’s alphabet and glyphs’ panel and thumbnail sketches to develop concepts.

PACKAGING DESIGN: SEED PACKETS FOR CHANGE

  • The project required a packaging design for seed packets that had a theme inspiring change. The cause behind the seed packaging is providing an online resource service by a start-up non-profit for individuals that want to contribute to society.

  • The color palette is a positive and saturated scheme that catches a viewer’s attention, along with the simple copywriting, composition, typography and child-like pastel drawings that lend to an approachable feel that encourages action.

  • The illustrations were done by myself in pastel, composited in Photoshop and brought to InDesign with copy created and set by me to create seed packets that spoke to the target market and encouraged them to donate.

  • It is my hope that the seed packets capture a fresh and innovative way for the public to engage with the non-profit brand and think of donating in a new way.

ILLUSTRATION + TYPE DESIGN: ATTRACTION MAP

  • The project required that I had to create a beautiful stylized vector map in Illustrator or an attraction.

  • Utilizing my pen skills within illustrator and my color palette: icons, secondary icons, decorative items, the layout of walkways and roads were created. I worked in stages and added the icons and decorative items to the completed layout. Finally a legend that matched the creative energy of the map was created.

  • All the illustrations were completed by myself and the color palette was maximized with the use of strategic tints. The typography was playful with the use of a slab serif and script in the palette colors.

  • The feel of the map is a combination of quirky, scary fun combined with saturated colors that make the park event look inviting. The elements of the map can be used in other printed and digital media.

  • The project was completed in Adobe InDesign using the required type settings and styles in order to create the entire publication of over three hundred pages.

  • The full cover and interior spreads were illustrated by myself with a child-like feel. A relevant photograph was curated and edited for each chapter. I completed three revisions.

  • The final product was very well received by the client and is able to be printed.

DESIGN FOR PRINT MARKETING: AIRLINE AD FOR NEW ROUTE

  • This project was designed for an airline company that was launching a new route and wanted to advertise this in Bold Traveler Magazine. This is an exclusive travel magazine that caters towards a mature and successful professional.

  • I researched the target audience in-depth regarding their statistics of travel, profession and personal preferences.

  • Five curated photographs with similar effects were integrated in a Photoshop composite. A luxurious bold type and a clear call to action using the airline website were included.

  • Warm colors and enviable images to create a yearning for the destination were used. An overall feel that this beautiful destination was within reach, while enjoying an expensive hotel was intended.

WEB DESIGN + CODING: COMMERICAL ARCHITECT WEBSITE

  • This project involved designing a website for a commercial architectural and building company. The website was required to function fully and represent the company’s design forward feel.

  • The User Interface was designed with the high-performing and affluent professional that is normally the most senior leader within an organization or business.

  • The call to action is a professional contact form with a message of interest in the client’s work.

  • Inspiring photos of work completed were used in conjunction with modern sans serif typography and colors sourced from the photographs.

  • After getting approval of the website design on Adobe XD, I was able to build the User Interface coding with html and css on Brackets. I completed a fully functioning website that mirrored the design on Adobe XD.

DESIGN FOR PRINT MARKETING: MOVIE POSTER

  •  The project entailed designing a movie poster for a production company to advertise an upcoming movie.

  • The movie is a thriller set in Tuscany about three main characters that become intertwined and need to escape Italy. I had to research other movie posters and look at the non-negotiables prescribed by the production company.

  • The goal was to create a visually intriguing design that made the viewer want to go and watch the movie. I created a process book working through research, brainstorming, thumbnail sketches, type tests and comps that were designed in Photoshop.

  • These comps can each be used as their own collateral. The strongest comp was chosen and refined with feedback from colleagues. Masking, blending and layers were used to create and fine tune the final movie poster in Photoshop.
